Mortgage Rates at all time lowRealtor Magazine reported today that mortgage rates fell this week to the lowest level on record.

The average rate on a 30-year fixed rate mortgage dropped to 4.69 percent this week from 4.75 percent last week. According to Freddie Mac this is the lowest level since the company started tracking the data in 1971. This mortgage rate breaks the most recent low record set in December.

After a slight rise in the beginning of 2010 the rates dropped again and have held below 5% since early May. I wonder if this new record will home buyers added incentive to lock in low payments on home purchases or refinancing? Or are consumers already used to low rates and won’t care?
